Disarmament & International Security
The First Committee of the General Assembly is devoted to maintaining the international security regime and fostering global peace. UCUMUN 2018 will simulate DISEC as it debates drone warfare.
Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) also known as drones, are being used at increasing rates around the world. With countries, such as the US, Israel, UK and many more, using them with more frequency the question of their legality is becoming a pressing issue. Civilians in terriories such as Palestine, Pakistan and Yemen are suffering the consequences as they cause a number of unwanted casualties.
In UCUMUN 2018, delegates will need to propose and hopefully pass a resolution that recommends guidelines to member states on their use of drones.

Dear delegates,
We would like to welcome you to UCUMUN 2018! As March 24th approaches, we are getting increasingly excited for our conference and hope to make it as productive as possible. We are enthusiastic about the topic and hope to see some fruitful debate during the committee session.
We recommend you read through the guide various times and look up information about your country’s position on the topic of Drone Warfare. This is in order to have the most informed debate possible. Keep in mind you represent an entire country, so make sure to be up to date!
